I decided it was time to brush off the cobwebs, or whatever web pages accumulate over time (perhaps instead of finding dead flies on an unvisited website you’d come across tiny dead google bots?) .

Fit Pig Recipes is the name of the site and can be found at the eponymous dot com address (or the link at the start of this sentence). The idea is it’s a place to go and find recipes for dinner, snacks etc. The recipes are user submitted so if you have one you like then you can submit it on the site and it will be posted along with all the others for people all over the world to enjoy. Traffic is going to take a long time to build up, so far I got quite a few visitors from stumbleupon.com and a few from the recent announcement on Facebook. Thanks to Paul for his inspiration in getting into the blogging (outside of this one) game. It took some time but I got there!

I’m going to be trying a few more sites, still considering which topic to go with next – I have a few I’m considering but will be updating here more often too. Something that has been said far too many times already on this site but this time will be different….

I have a new website project going on at the moment, a friend of mine is setting up a web presence and I’m part of a team putting together the site. At the moment I’m installing WordPress on there which is a blogging tool, kind of like this one. I saw it on Paul’s site Oz Adventures and I’ve heard quite a bit about it before so I thought I’d give it a go. Looks like rather than just blogging like this you can make it seamlessly into part of your site, as I think Paul also did on Utterly Recipes. The blog there seems to have gone but it’s had a bit of a face lift and is looking nice.

Anyway I’m learning lots of new stuff about blogs and am looking in to learning flash too to make my sites a bit more useful. I won’t post the new site yet as its all still under development but will post a link once complete, which will hopefully not be too much longer.

I haven’t had a post this nerdy for a while. I’ll have to come up with some less tech stuff next time.

I just realised that the previous post was included in my RSS feed so it looks like it works. The old posts are still there but hopefully they will gradually be replaced by the newest ones as I enter them. So give it a go if you can work out how. Clicking on the orange button in Firebox will give you the option of how to subscribe and IE7 gives some information on what feeds are. The idea is it lets you know when I post a new, err, post.

There seems to be a few ways of subscribing other than using the browsers. Thunderbird (Mozilla’s email client) lets you subscribe and it will arrive in a similar way to an email, which to me sounds like a good option, but now that I use gmail I don’t use Thunderbird any more. Sage seems to be a good plugin for Firefox to keep up to date with RSS.

If you understand any of this and have some better options or can explain it better than me please feel free to reply to this and help out!

I’ve tried setting up a link on the right to the RSS feed (its the orange button) – I suppose if you know what I’m talking about when I say RSS you’ll know the orange button. I’m still not 100% on it myself, but it’s a way of subscribing to the blog. If you have Firefox 2.0 or Internet Explorer 7 then you will have the option to subscribe using them, if not then download Firefox 2 and stop lagging behind.

The problem with this subscription is that it gives you the oldest instead of the newest posts, which isn’t of much use to anyone. I’ve tried asking blogger.com about it and had no reply, I’ve tried posting to the forum but had no reply. So if anyone reading this has any idea of how to sort it out (I have a feeling that blogger would need to sort it on their servers) then please let me know.

In the meantime, feel free to enjoy my earlier posts all over again through the RSS feed
