Back in the USSR…no wait, too many letters

Since I’ve been back in the US I’ve been telling the tales of what I got up to in England and was thinking “If only there was somewhere I could go to tell everyone the story at the same time”. Until that time arrives I will make do telling you here. It was cold, around -5 to 0 centigrade or 23-32 faranheit. We got snow on a couple of days but it wasn’t a windy rainy cold so it was bareable with several extra layers of clothing.

We went to Spurs, ice skating at Tower of London (photos to come eventually) and met up with friends and family.

Coming back to California were were a little overdressed, it’s been in the 80s here (mid 20s in c) and it feels like the start of summer.

    Mario Kart Wii

I played against my family back in England and it’s great fun! I did add in a webcam so it gives more of a feeling of playing against other people, we had that running on laptops alongside the Wii.

    Out at the park

We went along to Irvine Regional Park at the weekend and I finally got round to sorting the photos I took. It rained a little so there was some water in the stream there which I haven’t seen before. It’s a nice park, quite large compared to most English parks but its normally very crowded and noisy when I’ve been along there – this time (probably because of the rain) it was almost empty. It was a little worrying walking along the trail with mountain lion warnings (which basically said ‘they live here so it’s not our fault if you die’) and no-one around to notice.

    It’s a done deal

The vows have been exchanged and a great week was had by all. Many thanks again to those who made it over from England for making it what it was. The ceremony is available at the website for Little Church of the West, and I believe it will be there until 09 October. The wedding date was Sept 10, Groom’s last name Williams and Bride’s last name Hernandez.

The week in Vegas was a good one with friends and family venturing out there for the first time, a little gambling and drinking was indulged in. I drove in a huge bus that wouldn’t stay in a straight line (and yes it was before the gambling and drinking of that day) out to Hoover Dam and Lake Mead.

The day of the wedding went without any major problems, Brenda and I were very relieved to make it to the reception and start to relax! Paul did a fine job with his Best Man’s speech and Steve did a fine job helping to empty the bar celebrating his birthday.

I’m still compiling all the photos and will post the good ones once I find somewhere. If anyone knows of any free photo hosting web sites then please let me know.

My next target is to be a Legal Permanent Resident, which means lots more forms and fees but does mean I will get a work permit, which will let me get a driver’s license and then the world will be mine…
